Creamy Hot Drink (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 2 discs (3 oz each) Mexican chocolate.
02 - 4 cups whole milk.
03 - ½ cup masa harina.
04 - 1 cinnamon stick.
05 - 2 teaspoons vanilla extract.
06 - 2 ounces piloncillo.
07 - ⅛ teaspoon fine salt.
08 - 1½ cups warm water.

# Instructions:

01 - In a pot, mix together cinnamon, milk, chocolate, and piloncillo. Warm gently, stirring often, until everything melts into the milk.
02 - Take out the cinnamon stick once the mixture is smooth. Strain it if there are any bits.
03 - Stir together masa harina and warm water until smooth. Add this to the pot with the vanilla and salt.
04 - Let it gently cook for about 15 to 20 minutes on low heat. Whisk frequently so it doesn’t stick. You’ll know it’s good when it clings to your spoon.
05 - Optional: blend with a hand blender for extra creaminess. Sprinkle a little cinnamon over the top before serving.

# Notes:

01 - Switch to almond or oat milk to make it dairy-free.
02 - It’ll get thicker as it cools off.
