→ For Apples in the Oven

01 - 6 medium-sized apples good for baking (like Fuji, Granny Smith, Braeburn, Rome Beauty, McIntosh, Jonagold, or Golden Delicious)
02 - 1/2 cup of packed brown sugar
03 - 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
04 - 1/8 teaspoon of freshly grated nutmeg
05 - 1/3 cup of raisins (or dried cranberries)
06 - 3 tablespoons of butter, unsalted
07 - 1/4 cup finely chopped walnuts (optional)
08 - 1 cup of steaming hot water

→ Extras on Top

09 - Vanilla ice cream or unsweetened whipped cream
10 - Caramel drizzle

# Instructions:

01 - Set your oven to 375°F and let it warm. Combine nutmeg, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a small bowl. Toss that together with the dried cranberries.
02 - Use a coring tool (or knife) to remove the apple centers but keep the base intact. Line them up in a baking dish without crowding them.
03 - Spoon the filling into your apples equally. Add a 1/2 tablespoon of butter on top of each apple, along with optional walnuts. Sprinkle any leftover sugar mix over them.
04 - Pour the hot water into the dish. Let them bake at 375°F for 45-60 minutes, or until they're soft (but don’t let them turn mushy). The bake time depends on the size and type of apple.

# Notes:

01 - These apples are a warm and comforting fall treat with the flavors of a pie filling. They're great on their own or with a dollop of cream, a scoop of ice cream, or a drizzle of caramel.
02 - Tart, crisp apples hold up best in the oven!
