Strawberry Cheese Danish Treats (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Base

01 - 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, slightly defrosted
02 - 4 ounces softened cream cheese
03 - 3 tablespoons regular white sugar
04 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

→ Filling

05 - 2 cups thinly sliced, cleaned strawberries
06 - ½ tablespoon cornstarch
07 - ½ tablespoon regular white sugar

→ Egg Wash

08 - 1 large egg
09 - 2 teaspoons water

→ Lemon Icing

10 - ½ cup sifted powdered sugar
11 - Zest from half a lemon
12 - 2-3 teaspoons fresh lemon juice

# Instructions:

01 - Put puff pastry on the counter for 30 minutes to soften.
02 - Whip cream cheese for 60 seconds, dump in sugar and whip another 60 seconds. Stir in vanilla. Cut strawberries and combine with sugar and cornstarch.
03 - Spread out softened pastry, slice into 6 rectangles. Make a shallow cut ¼-inch from edges on each piece. Set on buttered baking sheet.
04 - Spread a spoonful of cream cheese mix on each pastry within the border. Pile strawberries on top.
05 - Paint edges with egg mixture. Cook at 400°F for 20-25 minutes till they're nicely browned.
06 - Stir icing stuff until runny but not watery. Dribble across hot pastries.
