Chocolate Cookies (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
02 - 1 large egg, room temperature.
03 - 3/4 cup of sugar, granulated.
04 - 3/4 cup of cocoa powder, not sweetened.
05 - 1/8 teaspoon of table salt.
06 - Royal icing or a similar glaze, for decorating.
07 - 1 1/2 cups of plain flour.
08 - Sprinkles for adding some fun.
09 - 3/4 cup butter, unsalted and softened.
10 - 1 teaspoon of baking powder.

# Instructions:

01 - Combine cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder with a whisk.
02 - Cream together the butter and sugar for around 2 minutes. Add in vanilla and egg.
03 - Slowly blend wet ingredients and dry ingredients until a dough forms.
04 - Split the dough into two and roll each out between sheets of parchment paper to 1/4 inch.
05 - Pile parchment-covered dough layers on top of each other and chill for about 1-2 hours.
06 - Using cookie cutters, cut shapes from the chilled dough. Re-roll remaining bits as needed.
07 - Bake on 350°F for around 11-12 minutes. They'll be done when the edges look firm.
08 - Wait until cookies are completely cool, then decorate with icing and sprinkle toppings.

# Notes:

01 - The dough stays fine in the fridge for two days.
02 - Make sure ingredients aren’t cold to mix evenly.
03 - Keep cookies fresh and soft for up to five days in an airtight container.
